African Dance
Discover an energetic and explosive way of dancing in 2010!

African dance is all about pleasure, the interaction between rhythm and motion, and getting the whole body moving.

Inge’s classes are based on traditional Guinean dance. Music is an essential part of these dances, which sometimes feature instruments like gourds, small percussion instruments or props like masks.

Inge van Winkel graduated from the prestigious dance academy Codarts – the University for the Arts in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. After graduating, Inge continued her dance studies in Africa at the National Dance Companies of Ghana and Guinea, and at the University for the Arts of Abidjan in Ivory Coast.

When Inge returned to The Netherlands she grew to be a well-known performer and teacher of African dance. She performed constantly on stage and in studios. As a teacher and choreographer she was busy leading workshops in The Netherlands and all over the world.

In winter 2008, Inge was ready for a new challenge and moved to Fremantle, Western Australia.

You can find more information on Inge in her biography on this site. If you’d like a workshop, class or performance you can find more info through the menu. You can also read about the other dance forms Inge specialises in.
